Business Intelligence Group announced today Sally the Robot has been named a winner in the 2019 BIG Innovation Awards. This annual business awards program recognizes the organizations, products and people that are bringing new ideas to life. Chowbotics was honored with the award alongside top innovators such as Mastercard Labs, UBS Wealth Management, IBM, United Healthcare, and Gulfstream among others.

When Sally the Robot first launched in March of 2018, it made customizable, perfectly proportioned salads available 24/7. Within a matter of months—through engineering and culinary innovations—the robot expanded to grain bowls and snacks, then breakfast bowls, and now can accommodate any cuisine such as Mediterranean, Latin, and Asian.

“Our team works really hard to deliver the best product for our customers,” remarked Dr. Deepak Sekar, founder and CEO of Chowbotics, “So when our efforts are noticed, it gives us fuel for the next innovative idea. We greatly appreciate the support we’ve received from these awards.” This piggybacks our recent announcement for Best in Biz’s Most Innovative Product of 2018 Award granted to Chowbotics and we couldn’t be prouder of these achievements.

“Having installed three Sally units at our sites has taken a very innovative product and created solutions for our customers. Sally has allowed us to provide fresh, great tasting food, 24/7 to call center employees, IT professionals and HQ employees in areas where we would not have been able to sustain a salad bar or fresh offer, either due to space constraints, infrastructure, time and temperature abuse or labor cost issues.” Commented Mark Spinelli, Vice President of Operations at Sodexo, when he heard about the award, “From the beginning working with the Chowbotics team to launch Sally was a pleasure. For a startup company, they invested in their team as much as the technology and have been there to support us every step of the way. The Chowbotics team continues to develop new menu items going beyond salads and working with us to create a unique experience for our customers. Innovation is great but sustaining that innovation is an even better investment.”

Organizations from across the globe submitted their recent innovations for consideration in the BIG Innovation Awards. Nominations were then judged by a select group of business leaders and executives who volunteer their time and expertise to score submissions.

“This year’s winners show just how deep a role innovation plays in nearly every aspect of business,” said Maria Jimenez, chief operating officer of the Business Intelligence Group. “We are thrilled to be honoring Chowbotics as they are leading by example and making real progress on improving the daily lives of so many.”
